What are employers’ contributions?
Employers’ contributions are the charges paid by your employer in addition to your gross salary. In the case of temporary employment, this mainly involves employers’ social security contributions, holiday allowances and a contribution to the Social Fund for Temporary Employees.
Am I entitled to an end-of-year bonus?
If you have worked at least 65 days as a temporary employee during the fixed reference period (1 July through 30 June), the Social Fund for Temporary Employees will pay your end-of-year bonus. This bonus amounts to 8.27% of the gross salary earned as a temporary employee during the reference period. The net amount after taxes will be about 63% of the gross amount.
Am I entitled to paid holidays?
Since you are working as an employee for Tentoo, you accumulate rights like all other employees. From a legal perspective, you are working as a temporary employee. This means that the specific provisions for this group of employees apply.
A distinction is made between artists and employees. Regular employees will receive their holiday allowances with each net salary payment. Artists will receive a collective payment in June of the subsequent calendar year. They are paid directly by the Belgian National Office for Annual Holidays.
These payments are made because of the temporary nature of the employment relationships. A permanent employee receives paid holidays, while a temporary employee receives the salary for these paid holidays in the form of holiday allowances. As a result, temporary employees accumulate holiday rights based on the work they perform, but can only take up unpaid holidays since the holiday allowances have already been paid.
What is the difference between the gross salary and the invoice amount?
The invoice amount is the total price (excl.VAT) to be paid by the client. This means: the gross salary plus employers’ contributions plus Tentoo’s fee.
The gross salary is your salary as an employee (on which you will pay social security contributions and taxes yourself).
The net salary is the amount after all required contributions have been deducted. This may be increased by the declared expenses, if applicable.
Am I entitled to an unemployment allowance?
If you work as a freelance temp through Tentoo, you have the employee status and you will have the same rights as other employees. This means you are entitled to an unemployment allowance. You can receive an unemployment allowance for each day you do not work, and for which no dimona is filed. Just indicate this correctly on your unemployment card and submit it to the National Employment Office (RVA).
